Forensics Detectors is a California-based technology leader in advanced gas sensing and measurement solutions. Our Story
In 2017, Forensics Detectors was founded by Dr. Kos Galatsis "Dr. Koz", a gas detector expert.
As a teenager, Dr. Koz built and sold amateur radio RF equipment at flea markets in Melbourne, Australia. He went on to study electronic engineering, where he joined the Sensor Technology Laboratory, led by Professor Wojtek Wlodarski. Dr. Koz loved the lab environment. He built an optical analyzer for particulate emissions with Novatech Controls, a humidity sensor, a combustion analyzer, and various carbon monoxide sensors and systems. Professor Wlodarski nicknamed him "Action Man".
One year in, Dr. Koz invented the world's first carbon monoxide sensor system for vehicles. The Australian news media covered this, marking the first time Dr. Koz appeared on TV. During his PhD studies, Dr. Koz traveled around the world to present his gas sensor inventions and ideas at international conferences and major industry events, including those hosted by Siemens in Germany and the Ford Motor Company in Michigan.
In 2011, Dr. Koz attended the IEEE Semiannual Vehicular Technology Conference in Rhodes, Greece. While viisiting the enchanting Santorini island he met his future wife. After getting married, they settled in Los Angeles, California, where Dr. Koz worked for Teledyne Analytical Instruments, then became an engineering professor at UCLA.
At UCLA, Dr. Koz was active in nanotechnology for sensors and nanoelectronics. He published with the Nobel Laureate Prof Stoddart, and invented metal organic framework MOF gas sensors with Nobel Laureate Prof Omar Yagi. In 2013, he left UCLA to become the CEO of a tech startup venture in high-speed 5G communications.
Throughout this period, Dr. Koz became a go-to expert for law firms handling cases involving air quality and toxic gas detection technology. He provided expert witness testimony in over 40 legal matters. These experiences revealed a striking problem: the severe shortage of affordable products addressing environmental and toxic gas health issues.
After pondering this issue for a few years, the "Action Man" founded Forensics Detectors Company in 2017. The company set a distinct and simple goal - to offer the best and most reliable gas detectors, with fast shipping, and no compromises.
Today, he serves as CEO of Forensics Detectors, leading teams across the USA, Europe, and Asia with a mission to deliver the world's most innovative, reliable, and affordable gas sensing equipment.

Dr. Kos Galatsis ("Dr.Koz") is the founder and CEO of Forensics Detectors. He is regarded as a world expert and authority in air quality monitoring and gas detection. He is a subject matter expert on air quality, gas sensor technology, gas detection, gas detectors, gas meters, and gas analyzers. He has been designing, building, manufacturing, and testing toxic gas detection systems for over 25 years.
